On 28 and 29 September 2022, the kick-off meeting of the GIZ-funded project ‘Supporting the city of Bizerte and its neighbouring municipalities in setting up a municipal waste management company as a model for Tunisia and North Africa’ took place at the Bizerta Resort Hotel. In addition to the project partners, numerous representatives of the 16 municipalities in the governorate of Bizerte took part in the event. The welcome and introduction to the project by the president, Mr Badreddine Lasmar, was followed by introductions and presentations by the various project partners and the relevant waste management institutions in Bizerte. The second day of the event was characterised by intensive discussions on the municipal infrastructure, the political framework and discussions on restructuring in the project area.
