The two weeks from November 29 to December 10, 2021 were dedicated to waste management. With the support of the State Chancellery of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, some members of the network and CITET on the Tunisian side, the environmental technology network enviMV carried out online training in the field of waste management for Tunisian experts from relevant industries, associations, universities and municipalities in the municipality of Bizerte.
After this innovative training format with live broadcasts from the respective plants had already been successfully carried out with Brazilian experts in 2020 and 2021, the planned training was also able to take place with Tunisian experts this year despite the corona-related travel restrictions.
In the first week, representatives from the Hanseatic City and University of Rostock, various ministries in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and our members Leea MV and BN Umwelt GmbH taught the theoretical basics.
In the second part of the training, the practical part was demonstrated - with the help of digital live walks, the Tunisian experts were able to gain insights into the PET recycling plant of Veolia GmbH, the biogas plant of mele Biogas GmbH, the power plant of EEW Energy from Waste GmbH and the mechanical-biological waste treatment plant and landfill of OVVD GmbH.
At the beginning of the training course, the participants chose a task that was worked on throughout the course and presented on the last day, resulting in new project ideas for cooperation between Tunisian and German partners in the field of waste management.
