Environmental education in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte

The task of the project is to develop a concept for environmental education and the organisation of events on waste avoidance and recycling in the district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte. The target group of the concept are day-care centres and schools.

Project targets

The aim of the concept is to intensify cooperation between industry, educational partners and educational institutions in the area of the circular economy. To this end, interactive, demand-oriented offers are being developed on topics such as waste avoidance, waste recycling, renewable energies and environmental protection. These offers are intended to impart knowledge in an age-appropriate manner and encourage both schoolchildren and kindergarten children to adopt environmentally friendly behavior.

A particular focus of the concept is the detailed elaboration of the topics in the area of recycling management. The aim is for every kindergarten child and every pupil to come into contact with the topic of the circular economy at least once as part of project days, project weeks or regular activities. The concept is to be implemented over a maximum period of three years.

Funding period: 05 March 2022 - 08 December 2023

Project results

The needs survey on the current status of waste separation practices in schools and kindergartens as well as interest in environmental education programs and external cooperation shows a great deal of interest in collaboration with external partners. Longer-term offers are preferred, but individual project days and further training for educators are also in demand. The offers should take place directly in the facilities, ideally combined with excursions.
